ACROSS THE UNIVERSE is coming to paperback this November.
Check out the new cover
In Across the Universe, Godspeed is a vast spaceship, the size of a small country. The lives of its passengers are severely regulated. And people are divided into three categories--Feeders, Shippers, and Keepers--represented by the three levels of the ship.
Originally designed to house navigational information, the Great Room is the largest room in the Keeper Level, large enough to contain the ship’s population if the area was needed as a meeting room. The hatch connecting the Shipper Level to the Keeper Level is located here. Emergency lockdown controls are located beside the hatch.
This area is the private quarters of Elder, the apprentice to the Eldest of the ship. The Eldest rules the ship, providing peace, guidance, and justice to the rest of the crew.
The Elder is trained by the current Eldest in the Learning Center, an area set aside with instructional materials and space to work. The grav tube connecting the Keeper Level to the Feeder Level is located here.
The nav Shippers of the highest rank have access to the Bridge. When Godspeed lands, the nav Shippers, who are trained generation after generation for this event, will land the ship on the new planet, Centauri-Earth.
The mission of Godspeed is not merely to arrive on a new planet, but to develop new skills and inventions during the centuries-long journey as well. To that end, research areas are set up in the Shipper level. Focus is on meteorology, agriculture, medical science, physics, genetics, nuclear physics, etc.

Most of the crew lives in the City, a collection of trailer-sized containers used for residences and workspaces. The City is sectioned into districts, depending on the work required: butchers and meat packagers live in the Meat District; spinners, weavers, and sewers live in the Cloth District; food preparers and preservers live in the Produce District, etc. Shippers live in the Shipper District, but take the grav tube to the Shipper Level to work.
Closest to the City, this section of the ship is used for growing crops, including vegetables, soy, and grain. Crop growth is enhanced with special organic fertilizer. Some crops, such as soy, have been genetically modified to produce quicker and of higher nutritional value. Pollination is done through both artificial and natural means using scientific procedures and a carefully maintained population of honeybees.
An inertial confinement fusion container providing both light and heat to the Feeder Level.
Specific breeds of livestock were carefully selected for production on Godspeed. Smaller animals, such as rabbits and poultry, were genetically modified to be larger in order to provide more meat and protein for consumption. Larger animals, such as cattle, were modified to be smaller, but also have a quicker reproduction cycle.
The Hospital is one of the original structures built with the ship. Four stories high, the Hospital provides excellent health care to all residents of the ship. First floor: lobby and emergency care. Second floor: obstetrics and gynecology. Third floor: mental ward, providing health care and residence to the mentally unstable. Fourth floor: elderly care. Behind the Hospital is a garden featuring a pond and a statue of the first Eldest.
The Recorder Hall contains all records of the ship and selected records of Sol-Earth’s history. A model of Sol-Earth and Centauri-Earth are displayed in the entryway, as well as a reproduction of Godspeed. The Recorder Hall also preserves documentation of new inventions on ship, records of agricultural and scientific theories developed on ship, and samples of art, music, and other creative contributions of the crew.
Amy is a cryogenically frozen passenger aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed. She expects to wake up on a new planet, 300 years in the future. But fifty years before Godspeed's scheduled landing, Amy's cryo chamber is unplugged, and she is nearly killed.
Now, Amy is caught inside an enclosed world where nothing makes sense. Godspeed's passengers have forfeited all control to Eldest, a tyrannical and frightening leader, and Elder, his rebellious and brilliant teenage heir.
Amy desperately wants to trust Elder. But should she? All she knows is that she must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets before whoever woke her tries to kill again.

Godspeed was fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.
It's been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. And everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed. But there may just be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to enact his vision - no more Phydus, no more lies.
But when Elder discovers shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a puzzle that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier, unable to fight the romance that's growing between them and the chaos that threatens to tear them apart.
In book two of the Across the Universe trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis mesmerizes us again with a brilliantly crafted mystery filled with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: They have to get off this ship.

"Revis' extraordinary setting is credible and palpably claustrophobic…Wherever the series goes from here, this opener leaves an indelible imprint."
